Stairs: Riser and Tread

Hardwood Stairs

Most of the time, the stairs are one of the first things people see when entering a house.

That’s why replacing carpet stairs with hardwood stairs, or refinishing the existing hardwood stairs, can give your house a totally different and improved look.

When refinishing your existing hardwood stairs you improve the  natural and original  look.  You can even change the stain color.

When replacing carpet with  new hardwood stairs, you have two options: using hardwood flooring  in conjunction with a stair nosing or using the wooden stair treads.

The risers used in building a new stair case are usually made by 1/4″ plywood.  They can match the wood stair tread or they can be painted white to match the stringer (side of the stair cases).
